STINGERS FOR REGEN 2024

Stinger transitions made for Regen 2024, an in-person gaming tournament that was live-streamed across the duration of its runtime.

These stingers were used to cleanly switch what was being displayed on the livestream to create a smooth viewing experience; eight stingers were created for the event total, with most being designed to reflect their upcoming livestream overlay’s role.

Apart from the ‘Stream Start’ stinger, all transitions were kept to be incredibly snappy and short in order to prevent viewers from missing potentially interesting/entertaining visual information while the livestream’s regular feed was hidden.

All utilised stingers functioned flawlessly during the event.

Main Stinger (All purpose transition)

Regen 2024’s logo is prominently featured to reinforce the event’s branding.

Versus (Leads into two players’ head-to-head stats/info just before their match)

Intensity of changing colours/scale is used to catch audiences’ eyes so they’ll know a match is about to begin.

Bracket Path (Leads into information on a single player’s tournament run)

Twisting arrows are representative of each players’ individual path in the competition.

Intermission (Leads into a waiting screen with revolving display of designs)

Intense letterboxing with the Team’s logo creates feeling of ‘shutting down’.

Replay (Leads into a replay of recent livestream footage)

Emphasis on anticlockwise right->left movements creates feeling of ‘turning back time’.

Commentary (Leads into camera focused on commentators)

Microphone unfolding signals to viewers that current scene is more audio than video focused.

Stream Start (Begins livestream or exits intermission)

References Marvel Studio’s famous logo sequence to continue Regen 2024’s film branding - repurposed from the event’s original trailer.

Designed originally as the main stinger before being repurposed and later unused.
